Now you can hear what Shrek would have sounded like had Chris Farley not died.

Before his death in December of 1997, comedian Chris Farley (Tommy Boy, Black Sheep,Saturday Night Live) was the original voice for everyone’s favorite giant ogre, Shrek, in the DreamWorks Animation film. Following his passing, and despite Farley having completed the majority of his dialogue, the studio decided to replace the actor with his former “Saturday Night Live” co-star Mike Meyers, and the rest is history.

Real Genius turns 30 this week! Get some insight from one of the women who inspired it!

One of the great geek comedies of the 80’s turns 30 this Friday. Still a classic. Still funny. Women seemed a bit under-represented in the movie, but that was the reality of major technical schools at the time.

Get a great look at the movie’s inspiration from one of the inspirations for Michelle Meyrink’s geeky/hottie Jordan.

All 169 Seinfeld episodes ranked. How’d they do?

As Seinfeld hits Hulu streaming, get reacquainted with the show that has been on about 9 times a day, every day, for the 17 years it’s been off the air. Vulture has taken on the massive task about nothing by ranking all the episodes. Maybe you can watch them on Hulu from worst to first for a bizarro marathon?

As much as I love lists, the order usually isn’t a big deal to me. Ranking the Seinfeld episodes is something I would never be able to do. I love pretty much all of them and have certainly seen them all dozens of times or more. This was just a fun list to read no matter how much I agreed or disagreed with their order. Some of the episodes I’ve rarely seen in recent years. I don’t think quality matters when it comes to syndication running order, so I guess it’s just the fates of when I catch it on TV.

My personal favorite came in at #6. I hadn’t even really thought about the oddity of an episode that George doesn’t appear in.

“6. “The Pen” (Season 3). The only episode that doesn’t feature George, which made Alexander so incensed that he threatened to leave the show if the writers ever turned in another script that excluded his character. That makes sense, but this episode is marvelous — a headfirst dive into the world of Del Boca Vista, where we’re introduced to Jack Klompus and see the infamous astronaut pen that gives the episode its name. A muscle-relaxant-fueled Elaine hollering “STELLA!!!!” at the end earns Louis-Dreyfus a million trillion Emmys.”

Netflix Orders New Comedy Series ‘Lady Dynamite’, From Maria Bamford

Another Netflix original to get excited about. Maria Bamford, one of the revered ‘Comedians of Comedy’ and one of the more underrated comics out there working the stages, will bring her humor to Netflix in ‘Lady Dynamite’.

Netflix has ordered 13 half-hour episodes that will basically be the surrealist look at her own life, a la Seinfeld & Louie. Look for it in the future on Netflix. No air-date has been announced yet.

First look at the new Ghostbusters on set.

No Leslie Jones or Chris Hemsworth yet, but filming is underway in Boston. It would make sense if they are similar to the Ernie Hudson & Annie Potts characters in the original that they’d join the story later on, so they’re not yet filming.

I still have no idea what to think of this. I’ll hold any early judgement until I see a trailer. What do you think?

This list goes to 11! Spinal Tap’s greatest songs.

Take a listen (and a look) at the best of Spinal Tap!

I just watched This is Spinal Tap again the other night, and it never gets old. Either does the music. Probably the best songs ever recorded by actors. Playing their own instruments, writing their own songs, and better than most “real” bands of their era, Spinal Tap rocks.

Personally, I’m partial to ‘Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight’.

Check out the list, and some videos, at Ultimate Classic Rock.

And don’t miss the video at the bottom of AC/DC recalling one of their own Spinal Tap moments.

ABC sets debut of The Muppets for Sep. 22nd.

It’s time to start the music, it’s time to light the lights. The Muppets return to series television after a 19 year absence will happen on September 22nd on ABC.

The show is described as a contemporary, mockumentary-style comedy that will explore ‘The Muppets’ personal lives and relationships both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires—a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.” The series will be produced by ABC Studiosand The Muppets Studio, with Randall Einhorn and Muppet performerBill Baretta serving as executive producers, alongside Prady and Kushell.

Bill Prady originated the idea to bring The Muppets back to prime-time television and enlisted Bob Kushell as co-creator and showrunner for the project, as Prady will concurrently perform his co-creator/executive producer duties on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, which is guaranteed at least through its tenth year, for the 2016–17 season.

The Muppets was a considered a “stealth, late presentation” in the 2015 comedy development season. After buying Prady and Kushell’s pitch, ABC ordered a pilot script and a 10-minute proof of concept filmed presentation, which was filmed at the Walt Disney Studios in May and delivered just in time for ABC schedule consideration.
